Muttahida Qaumi Movement's (MQM) Hyderabad's Zonal In-charge Navaid Shamsi has demanded of the Election Commission of Pakistan to immediately hold election on reserved seats of local bodies. Addressing a hurriedly-called press conference at Hyderabad Press Club, Shamsi said that due to delay in transferring of powers to the elected representatives, local government minister, administrator, officers and others were misusing funds and it was illegal and unconstitutional act.

It was tantamount to usurping the rights of voters. He claimed that the elections on reserved seats and subsequent election of major and deputy mayor was being delayed to give an opportunity to the ruling party PPP to rig the elections and misuse funds. He announced that protest would be held outside ECP office soon against conspiracies against people.
